Christophe Hillion is Professor of European Law at Law School, University of Leiden (2005-) as well as at Faculty of Law, University of Stockholm. He is also a Senior Researcher, Swedish Institute of European Policy Studies where he focuses on research on EU external relations, neighbourhood, enlargement, constitutional and administrative law. Professor Hillion is an Associated Scholar at the Centre for European Legal Studies, Cambridge. Consultant on EU external relations and constitutional law, to e.g. UK Cabinet Office (2002-03), UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2007-), Swedish International Development Agency (2007-), Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-), authorities of Northern Cyprus (2008), Council of Europe (2008). Co-founder/member, Centre for the Law of EU External Relations, T.M.C. Asser Institute, The Hague (2008-)

He is a co-founder/member of Wider Europe Network: Research network on EU relations with East-European Neighbours, Sussex European Institute, Aston University Birmingham, Leiden Europa Institute as well as member of editorial board: Common Market Law Review, European Foreign Affairs Review, Cambridge Yearbook of European Legal Studies, Ukrainian Journal of European Legal Studies.

Occasional lecturer at various European universities (Bibó István - Budapest, Copenhagen, Cambridge, Donetsk, Durham, Ghent, Gothenburg, Leiden, Lódz, London, Moscow, Nottingham, Prague, Sussex, Tallinn, Warsaw), institutes (College of Europe – Bruges/Natolin; European University Institute - Florence) and for the EU external relations programmes of the European Law Academy (Trier)
