Professor Mahlmann is a Chair of Philosophy and Theory of Law, Legal Sociology and International Public Law at the University of Zurich. Visiting Professor at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and Georgetown University Law Center, Washington D.C. Since 2002 member of the European Network of Legal Experts in Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination (formerly: European Network of Independent Experts in the Field of Non-Discrimination). Since 2013 he holds a position of president of the Swiss Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy
